…And then there’s the hard-rock dancin’ ditty "Filthy/Gorgeous, " the album’s true stunner. Musically, It’s got the balls to merge hard-charging stadium rock with fancy-footwork disco. Lyrically, the song seems based on Shears’ prior work as a joie-de-vivre go-go dancer in Manhattan -- he rhymes "acid " with "flaccid " in one verse, and then, this: "I’m a classy honey kissy huggy lovey dovey ghetto princess. Here available in 3 different mixes: Another red-hot mix by ATOC (in collaboration with Superbuddha) that blends catchy guitar riffs and screaming synths with Jake’s trade-mark falsetto vocals into a punchy dance floor stormer. The extended edit of the Album version that is more on the Disco- House tip and the more raw demo version with “that” live feel. As a bonus you’ll get “The Skins” which was only available as a hidden Track on the UK pressing of the Album.

SCISSOR SISTERS

Scissor Sisters consist of three downtown celebutards: Ana Matronic, a mistress of disguise. Babydaddy, who's electronic compositions feature a down-low under-pop and frontman Jake Shears who provided the wry vocal delivery on Tiga’s popular club reworking of Nelly’s "Hot in Herre ". With vocal stylings that have been coined a blend of Sylvester and early George Michael, Shears expels electro-charged tales that range from hallucinating fashion industry prostitutes to adulterous rock'n roll hairdressers, injecting all with unabashed, hands-in-the air fun. Babydaddy and Shears originally met in Kentucky and were introduced by a mutual friend to Ana Matronic while waiting in the lobby for a screening of Captain EO at Disneyland. It was on the Teacup ride that the three realized they shared influences that range as wide as the early nineties Cologne acid scene to The Muppet Show; their sisterhood was sealed in the Haunted Mansion with a pair of rusted scissors and bound index fingers.

The Scissor Sisters have been on a tear since the spring, topping the album chart, selling out prestigious concert venues and scoring hit after hit in the U.K. and much of Europe. They’ve won praise from Kylie Minogue, Duran Duran and Elton John. But the real feat still lies ahead, as these New Yorkers prepare to bring it home and tear it up in their homeland.
